Carlo Ciceri was born in La Spezia in May 1980.

After graduating in piano, he moved to the Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana in Lugano, where he received a Master in Conducting (led by G. Bernasconi) and Composition (with Nadir Vassena and Giovanni Verrando). He studied composition also with Jacopo Baboni Schilingi and Frédéric Voisin at the Conservatoire de musique de Montbéliard. He is graduated in Musicology at the University of Pavia (Faculty of Cremona).

During his studies he won several competition and residencies (Zeitklang, Jurgenson Composition Competition, Camillo Togni, Incontri Internazionali Franco Donatoni, Gianni Bergamo Composition Award, Fondation Royaumont, MIA Annecy). He has also followed several academies and master classes throughout Europe (Fondation Royaumont, AkadieImpuls Graz, Ferienkurse Darmstad, Acanthes Avignon).

His production has been performed by numerous ensembles and orchestras among which ensemble recherche, RepertorioZero, ensemble Vortex, ensemble Linea, Divertimento ensemble, MDI ensemble, ensemble Risognanze, Tiroler Symphonie Orchester Innsbruck, Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana, Zurcher Kammerorchester. His music has been programmed in several festivals as Biennale Musica Venezia, Festival di Milano Musica Milano, Festival Archipel Genève, Klangspuren Schwaz, Tage füautr Neue Musik Züautrich, Oggimusica and 900Presente Lugano, Rondò Milano.

He is member of the executive committee and head of promotion of the ensemble RepertorioZero, who won the Silver Lion prize at the 55th Biennale Musica of Venice 2011. He is co-founder of the group Crile, a research collective of Dance, Music and New Media.

He teaches at the Scuola Civica di Musica in Milan and he gives workshops at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano.

His music is published by the Suvini Zerboni edition, Milan.
